ChiHuaHua


Chihuahua

      They are tiny toy sized dog and popular pets in Thailand that they can found at all region in Thailand. This breed originated in Mexico. So, the Chihuahua are popular pets in Thailand because alert, pretty, smallest dog and can stay at small area such as condominium, flat and apartment.

Appearance
   
    The body is longer than it is tall. The head is well rounded, same apple in shape. Puppies have a soft spot on the top of the skull called a "molera" (not close of the skull or incomplete skull) , which usually closes by adulthood. The large, round eyes are set well apart and are dark, ruby, and may be lighter in white dogs. The erect ears are large. The tail is long, sickle-shaped, either curled over the back or to the side. The coat comes in both a short coat or a long, wavy or flat coat. All colors, both solid, marked or splashed are accepted. Colors include, but are not limited to, black, white, chestnut, fawn, sand, silver, sable, steel blue, black & tan and parti-color. The height are about 6-9 inches (15-23 cm.) and weight about 2-6 pounds (1-3 kg.). The life spans are about 15 or more year. 

Temperament and Living conditions
    
    The Chihuahua is a good companion dog. Courageous, extremely lively, proud and adventurous, they enjoy affection. Brave, cheerful and agile. Chihuahua's can be strong-willed without the proper human leadership. They are loyal and become attached to their owners. The Chihuahua are good little dogs for apartment life. They likes warm weather and dislikes the cold. They need space just like any other dog. Because they are small does not mean they can be kept in a vary small area.


 Health Problems 

    The Chihuahua have problem about genetic anomalies (neurological disorders such as epilepsy and seizure), abnormally large head or hydrocephalus and Moleras (incomplete skull). They are prone to eye infections or eye injury due to their large, round, protruding eyes and their relatively low ground clearance and have a tenancy to wheeze and snore, because of their small, short muzzles. They are prone to hypoglycemia due to their are more high metabolism than the medium and large breed dog.



P.S. Chihuahuas are often born via cesarean section because puppies are born with relatively large heads.
